101 in 1001

I spent some time over the week pulling together a 101 in 1001 list and decided to share it here for the sake of accountability. These goals are presented in no particular order and I decided to lump them all together in one post (even though it’s a bit lengthy) so I can update as I tick things off the list. I found that my goals are a combination of personal, professional and blog-related and I look forward to the great things the next 1001 days will bring even if I accomplish only half of these tasks. After a long, quiet, lazy weekend, generating this list was just the ticket to getting me fired up and motivated for the new year.

The following guidelines are borrowed from Brooke’s 101 in 1001 list at Claremont Road:

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

I had to laugh at the end date… If you’re a believer in the Mayan’s – you’ll get done *just* in the nick of time!

In all seriousness, this is a wonderful list. I tell ya what, put in for Martha tickets – once you’ve got a day, schedule your trip. 2 goals, done.
I studied knitwear design in college – One of my favorite passtimes is hand-knitting. Come to NYC for Martha, and then you and I can spend some quality time at Purl. I will get you set with a starter-kit. Then, lunch and I will teach you. 3 goals off your list!

On the following morning, at the break of dawn we’ll head to the flower market where you’ll select your flowers for your “design” course – Either I can teach you for free, OR I will set you up with one of my instructors for a lesson. 4 off your list!

We’ll then have a Friday night dinner at The Natural Gourmet Cookery School – where you will have a lovely vegan meal and have access to one of the finest “health supportive” recipe bookstores on the East Coast. 5 on your list!!

I LOVE your goals. I’d be delighted to support you in any way I can.

That’s a great list, I hope you will update and check things off as you go. I am thinking about doing one because I realized recently that I never really set goals for myself and goals are the best motivation. Congrats on the first step… exciting!

what a list! good luck with it! you should also submit photos of your home once it’s renovated to apartment therapy…i feel like they more often post regular homes vs design sponge which focuses so much on semi famous arty people.
